The top soundboard of the CRAFTER HJ-250 guitar is made of Engelmann spruce, which is more respected than spruce in the musical instrument industry. Guitars with a thick top deck made of Engelmann spruce are more responsive and have a perfectly balanced sound at all frequencies. Engelmann spruce has a darker, yellowish-brown colour. The wood has less stiffness and density compared to a common or Sitka spruce, making the instrument more responsive to all the nuances of the sound.

Engelmann spruce guitars have a distinctively loud sound, while the mahogany body gives the instrument a softer, deeper feel.
